Job Description

We are seeking a dependable, organized, and motivated Food Service Manager to oversee the daily operations of a school food service program. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment, and be committed to providing nutritious meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming setting.Schedule and BenefitsMonday through Friday, day shiftNo weekends or holidaysSummers offServSafe® Certification is a plus. Candidates must be able to obtain the required documentation and clearances to work in a school setting.Key Responsibilities:Daily OperationsOversee and manage daily school food service operations.Ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently and according to established standards.Support and supervise food service staff to maintain smooth daily operations.Food Preparation and ProductionPrepare and cook a variety of foods according to recipes and established procedures.Ensure proper portion control and meet production standards in accordance with National School Lunch Program (NSLP) guidelines.Help ensure meals meet applicable food service and nutrition requirements.Ordering and InventoryPlace food and supply orders as needed.Monitor inventory, maintain appropriate stock levels, and minimize waste.Assist with menu promotions and other food service marketing initiatives.Point-of-Sale (POS) and Cash HandlingSupport staff with cash collection and register operations.Ensure accurate transactions and compliance with recordkeeping procedures.Food Safety and CleanlinessMaintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and serving area.Ensure food safety and sanitation procedures are consistently followed.Ensure required personal protective equipment (PPE) is used appropriately and safety procedures are maintained.Staffing and Team LeadershipAssist with recruiting and securing food service workers and substitute staff.Provide direction and support to team members.Promote a positive, cooperative, and professional work environment.Qualifications:Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety practices.Basic inventory management, ordering, and cash-handling skills.ServSafe® Certification preferred.Ability to obtain required documentation and clearances to work in a school setting.
