Job Description

Principal Human Factors Engineer position at Baxter in Batesville, Indiana, focused on improving usability and safety for hospital beds and patient lift systems. Applicant will lead cross-functional initiatives, conduct user research, and support product development and engineering efforts.

Responsibilities

• Lead training and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance functional outcomes and project execution
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and user-centered development to ensure products meet customer needs
• Develop and maintain human factors plans, protocols, and compliance reports
• Support definition of user needs, claims, and critical tasks during product requirements phase
• Mentor team members and communicate findings through reports, charts, and industry trend updates

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Factors Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Biomedical Science, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in human factors engineering, user experience development, or equivalent discipline
• Deep knowledge of FDA guidelines, IEC 62366, IEC 60601-1-6, AAMI HE75, and ISO 14971 standards
• Demonstrated experience conducting usability testing and user research activities
• Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams
• Problem-solving ability and capacity to navigate complex, ambiguous situations
• SAP experience preferred; continuous improvement or lean experience desired

Compensation: $112,000-$154,000 base annually
